The UdeM FMM Award

For several years, the Dr. Sadok Besrour Chair in Family Medicine at UdeM FMM has been contributing to the advancement of knowledge in family medicine and primary care, in collaboration with other disciplines.

The proposed program aims to support the development of research in primary care, partnerships between researchers and clinical sectors, and training within the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine (DMFMU).

2025–2026 Competition Objectives

The Dr. Sadok Besrour Chair in Family Medicine seeks to support researchers, clinicians, residents, and graduate students affiliated with the DMFMU in carrying out research projects aimed at improving primary care practices.

The objectives of the 2025–2026 competition are to:

Strengthen collaboration between researchers and clinicians around the DMFMU’s and the Chair’s infrastructure and priorities.

Strengthen mentorship, knowledge transfer, and the integration of research into clinical practice.

Generate new knowledge and evidence in primary care.

This competition supports two project profiles :
Vision

  • Structuring project : a large-scale project, initiated by a researcher affiliated with the DMFMU, in collaboration with a primary care clinician, with a maximum grant of 40,000 Canadian dollars.
    • Only one structuring project will be funded for 2025–2026.
    •  
  • Catalyst project: a field-based project, initiated by a primary care clinician, in collaboration with a researcher affiliated with the DMFMU, with a maximum grant of 10,000 Canadian dollars.
    • A maximum of 3 catalyst projects will be funded for 2025–2026.
2025–2026 Dr. Sadok Besrour Chair Competition's recipients

The RRSPUM is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025–2026 Dr. Sadok Besrour Chair competition. This competition supports innovative primary care projects aimed at improving clinical practices, the patient experience, and care organization.

The RRSPUM-involved projects selected this year are:

  • Géraldine Layani (principal investigator) and Nadia Rebecca Llanwarne (co-investigator).
  • Code Z : Revealing the Invisible — Toward an Integrated Social Diagnosis in Primary Care.
  • Emma Glaser (principal investigator) and Marie Pierre Codsi (co-investigator). Improving Care for Refugees and Asylum Seekers through Training Programs for Diversified Clinical Practice: An Analysis of the Patient Experience.
  • Isabelle Larocque, Sarah-Émilie Giraldeau-Bélanger, and Marie-Thérèse Lussier. Implementing the “Getting Ready” Form in GMF-U Clinics to Optimize Patient Preparation for Medical Consultations.
